Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has admitted that he is being plagued by physical problems, but he is playing through the pain barrier to help out a first team that is already lacking fit defenders.
Fellow Los Blancos fullbacks Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao are still unavailable due to injury, while Alvaro Arbeloa only recently returned to match action again after a spell on the sidelines. Ramos insists he has opted to play on despite a muscle injury, as he does not want to let his teammates down.
"It's true that I don't feel 100 percent, and that I'm not fully fit because of muscular problems," Ramos told Marca. "Now isn't the time to stop though, because we have injuries to key players in defense. We have to be there as a team."
The 26-year-old Ramos has made 15 appearances for Madrid so far this season.
