Wenger reiterates determination to keep Walcott

Arsene Wenger says contract renewal talks with Theo Walcott are ongoing, but admits there is still no resolution over a new deal.

Walcott has been linked with a move to Juventus in recent days, with manager Antonio Conte said to be keen on the England international. Liverpool and Manchester City also want the ex-Southampton star, who is now in the final year of his contract at Arsenal.

Talks over an extension in the summer did not bring a positive outcome for Wenger and, although there is no news, the Frenchman is determined to keep the 23-year-old from the clutches of his rivals.

He said: "They [talks] are going on but there is no news about that.

"My determination has always been the same and that is to extend his contract. Other clubs are interested but the determination is the same."

Walcott missed Arsenal's 1-0 defeat to Norwich at the weekend but Wenger is hopeful he will be back soon following the injury he sustained while playing for England.

He added: "The good news is he has had his first run [on Tuesday] and should be back shortly."
